Creating a costume is like a reverse nest for me...A shelter or skin...a home or a safe haven...It is my skin inside out like a clothed x-ray. Even with this altered outside expression I am still able to retain my own sense of privacy, concealment...and protect my inner world. I love that this womb like security can be attained in a very seductive and flamboyant manner. People want to peel you away...approach you, touch and unravel you. They appear to be delighted in your plummage but they venture with their own trepidation, fear, uncertainty and a vulnerability i find very sensual. So in a way, it is our dual curiosity which makes us the same creature...only our diguises are varied. The unique underpinning lets me be observer and player simultaneously, thus allowing me to excavate one's own personna.
